    Cold My Heart Comment

    1. King Arthur comes to life in this wonderfully authentic tale based entirely on Welsh mythology rather than the Anglo French version made fashionable by the needs of writers who lived years later or by romance writers.Arthur is under threat from a superior army of Saxons led by Mordred The story builds around Myrddin, a knight, and Nell a nun, both dedicated to saving Arthur, and both able to foresee danger to him.The story has a magical feel, but doesn t dwell upon sentiment its characters havin [...]

    2. One of my favorite books as a child was The Crystal Cave Book One of the Arthurian Saga The Arthurian Saga, Book 1 , and I still fondly remember young Myrddin Emrys I smiled when I saw that was the name of one of the main characters. The other thing that made me smile was that this is a story for adults with adult heroes Nell is gasp all of 30 and Myrddin is 36 Of course that s not old at all, but refreshing in a market where so many stories are targeted to young adults, even Arthurian stories.Wh [...]

    3. Mostly everyone is familiar with the tale of King Arthur but Ms Woodbury has a way with words and ancient Welsh culture that it was a joy to read this novel I must say that this isn t my usual reading pleasure and I mostly prefer mystery and thriller books but this is such an adventure and Ms Woodbury is such a skilled storyteller that it drew me in from the first page This is a genuine page turner and although you know what will happen in the end if you are familiar with the legend of King Arth [...]

    4. Good Medieval Historical. My favorite aspect is the heroine is 30 and hero 36.Nice not to have teenage beauty queen type heroine.

    5. In Cold My Heart, Sarah Woodbury describes a mission to prevent the fulfillment of recurring similar visions about King Arthur that are dreamt by the two protagonists, Myrddin and Bess Ms Woodbury is a fine storyteller and it is hard to conceive of the plot advancing without the use of dreams but, when Myrddin tries to describe his dreams to another character, the other character has difficulty taking him seriously So you re what A saint A seer A wizard The reader understands this reaction. The r [...]

    6. This edition included books 1 3 of the series, which I didn t know while reading it and had ordered book 2 of the series after finishing I was wondering why it was taking me so long to finish 100 pages I read this on my Kindle The story was good, kept me engaged I ll probably read the rest of the series.

    7. Set in the final year of King Arthur this is a violent story about two people thrown together by the events during the civil war between Modred and Arthur The story is well written and ends on a cliff hanger.

    8. Although described as A Novel of King Arthur this book is really the story of Myrddin, one of Arthur s knights, and Nell, a nun who escapes when the Saxons raid her convent Both Myrddin and Nell have repeated dreams about the death of King Arthur, and they work to change that future.I found the book enjoyable, but it didn t hold my interest Between when I started reading this and when I finished I also read several paper books. There were several points where the history diverged from the standar [...]

    9. A really great read I enjoyed the alternating point of view for the two main characters The book had just enough intrigue, action, and politics to spice up the back story, history, and subtly handled romance A succinct reminder of why I love Sarah Woodbury s writing The use of premonition in age where the ability would not be freely admitted, but cod also exist without question makes for masterful foreshadowing, especially as action in the book alters the visions and the outcome This being said, [...]

    10. Well researched and tautly plottedThis is the first one of a series and what a rousing start Woodbury is always wonderful, with well drawn characters who really breathe, speaking and acting as coherently with t heir characters as real people The suspense is due to smart plotting and superb command of the language You will need a good memory or a cheat sheet to keep the names and allegiances straight The latter is worthy of a spy thriller You will love this real world King Arthur.

    11. This is the story of Nell, a former nun whose home was destroyed by Saxons and one of King Arthur s knights, Myrrdin It s been a while since I ve read any medieval stories and this one was enjoyable, albeit kind of short The story sort of stands alone, but is obviously part of a series The writing is good and the alternating POV works well, giving both main characters a voice I m going to check out the second book in the series.

    12. A well researched tale of a Sir Myrddin Mir thin , a knight in King Arthur s retinue The fighting scenes were realistic Except for the nun, Nell, there were no female characters to speak of, sadly Some of the Welsh names and places were confusing and ran together a bit The author could have spent less time discussing Myrddin s and Nell s visions and time explaining the names and relationships of the people and places.

    13. This book wanted to be so much than it really is Couldn t finish it because I got bored The story has potential for drama and emotion, but somehow it all comes off as shallow It s also really repetitive Yeah, we get what the stakes are, now can we get to know your characters a little better

    14. I really enjoyed this new story of King Arthur I loved the characters, and the story line It was fresh, captivating, and very good.It was a new spin on an old tale I loved the endinga very good read.
