    About Author

    1. Rumiko Takahashi was born in Niigata, Japan She is not only one of the richest women in Japan but also one of the top paid manga artists She is also the most successful female comic artist in history She has been writing manga non stop for 31 years.Rumiko Takahashi is one of the wealthiest women in Japan The manga she creates and its anime adaptations are very popular in the United States and Europe where they have been released as both manga and anime in English translation Her works are relatively famous worldwide, and many of her series were some of the forerunners of early English language manga to be released in the nineties Takahashi is also the best selling female comics artist in history well over 100 million copies of her various works have been sold.Though she was said to occasionally doodle in the margins of her papers while attending Niigata Ch High School, Takahashi s interest in manga did not come until later During her college years, she enrolled in Gekiga Sonjuku, a manga school founded by Kazuo Koike, mangaka of Crying Freeman and Lone Wolf and Cub Under his guidance Rumiko Takahashi began to publish her first doujinshi creations in 1975, such as Bye Bye Road and Star of Futile Dust Kozue Koike often urged his students to create well thought out, interesting characters, and this influence would greatly impact Rumiko Takahashi s works throughout her career.Career and major works Takahashi s professional career began in 1978 Her first published story was Those Selfish Aliens, a comedic science fiction story During the same year, she published Time Warp Trouble, Shake Your Buddha, and the Golden Gods of Poverty in Sh nen Sunday, which would remain the home to most of her major works for the next twenty years Later that year, Rumiko attempted her first full length series, Urusei Yatsura Though it had a rocky start due to publishing difficulties, Urusei Yatsura would become one of the most beloved anime and manga comedies in Japan. In 1980, Rumiko Takahashi found her niche and began to publish with regularity At this time she started her second major series, Maison Ikkoku, in Big Comic Spirits Written for an older audience, Maison Ikkoku is often considered to be one of the all time best romance manga Takahashi managed to work on Maison Ikkoku on and off simultaneously with Urusei Yatsura She concluded both series in 1987, with Urusei Yatsura ending at 34 volumes, and Maison Ikkoku being 15.During the 1980s, Takahashi became a prolific writer of short story manga, which is surprising considering the massive lengths of most of her works Her stories The Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo, and Fire Tripper all were adapted into original video animations OVAs In 1984, after the end of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, Takahashi took a different approach to storytelling and began the dark, macabre Mermaid Saga This series of short segments was published sporadically until 1994, with the final story being Mermaid s Mask Many fans contend that this work remains unfinished by Takahashi, since the final story does not end on a conclusive note.Another short work left untouched is One Pound Gospel, which, like Mermaid Saga, was published erratically The last story to be drawn was published in 2001, however just recently she wrote one final chapter concluding the seriesLater in 1987, Takahashi began her third major series, Ranma Following the late 80s and early 90s trend of sh nen martial arts manga, Ranma features a gender bending twist The series continued for nearly a decade until 1996, when it ended at 38 volumes Ranma is one of Rumiko Takahashi s most popular series with the Western world.During the later half of the 1990s, Rumiko Takahashi continued with short stories and her installments of Mermaid Saga and One Pound Gospel until beginning her fourth major work, InuYasha While Ran

    Ranma 1/2, Vol. 36 (Ranma ½ Comment

    1. Amazing I ve just finished this series and I m already thinking of starting again if I did t have such a long list of other mangas to read, I would start these again This is the story of two families the Tendo family and the Saotome family and they decide that they will have their children marry Ranma and Akane in order to continue the Tendo family dojo Ranma and Akane do not hit it off right away and begin to fight regularly However, Ranma has a secret when hit with cold water, he turns into a [...]

    2. Last volume Unlike a lot of people, I like that the series didn t end too neatly It wouldn t be in keeping with the rest of the series if everybody s troubles were over now and everybody lived happily ever after Some things are certainly resolved, but I prefer an ending where I know the silliness will continue pretty much as is off the page.

    3. The final and last volume of Ranma It took me 4 months to read this series I was reading other manga series and other books in addition to this plus also waiting at the library for sometimes weeks to get the next volume I started out absolutely loving the series and then after about 10 volumes in, it started getting kind of blah for me It was just the same old, same old very random side story with shenanigans and hijinks to keep a super popular series going for as long as it could So when I was [...]

    4. Part 1 The Phoenix and the Dragon Akane finds a phoenix and a dragon at the heart of Jusendo Ranma, Ryoga and Mousse move to the attack.Part 2 The Saffron Egg Akane tries to help but something attacks her and she disappears She s turned into a small doll like being.Part 3 The Spout of the Dragon Ranma tries to help Akane He manages to decapitate both animals but later wakes up in bed Shampoo has the small Akane.Part 4 A Last, Sweet Memory The head of one of the animals has impaled itself on Saff [...]

    5. If I had to sum up all of Ranma 1 2, it d be this martial arts, secret techniques, crazy jealous love interests, wacky mishaps, a constant stream of batshit insanity, questionable sexism or satirical, I honestly have trouble figuring out which , excessive fan service for an older series, that is , law defying physics, hilarity, repeat for 36 volumes Insert the occasional sweet moment for Ranma and Akane, only to be ruined by Ranma s tactlessness or outside sources Etc etc etc And that s essentia [...]

    6. I have to admit, the ending was a bit of a downer We don t see our favorite pairing get together at all Sure they know they love each other, but then they act like it never happened I knew they probably wouldn t get married since they are young, but at least a kiss for us fans who read through this long series Not only that, but things finally got interesting she decides to end it I wish we could have gotten a proper ending instead of an open one, but overall this series made me laugh with it s [...]

    8. Character review I really, really love Ranma, but there s a lot of times when I wished that he would just go ahead and forgot about Akane Akane is great gal, but I find her aggressiveness toward Ranma very annoying many times I love Shampoo And I actually really like her and Ranma together.I like Hibiki and Kuno pair up a lot And I most definitely love Kasumi and the doctor especially when the doctor go crazy because of Kasumi I like how Ryoga end with someone who accept him for everything that [...]

    9. Oh my kami sama I have read the last volume of Ranma 1 2 Oh my kami sama.I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this series I even cosplayed as Ranma for my senior pictures , so I m absolutely heartbroken, ecstatic, pleased, and all of that rolled into one now that I ve ended this series I lose two of Rumiko Takahashi s greatest series in one year InuYasha 56 volumes and Ranma 1 2 36 volumes.3Ranma forever FaNgIrLs UnItE

    10. so I ve finished all 36 volumes of the manga a bit disappointed towards the end as the two lead characters never really did get together despite being engaged and all or maybe I m just a sucker for mushy romance stuff and that expalains my disappointment however, I am annoyed that the secondary characters didn t get proper endings.

    11. I finished reading all 36 volumes, and I have to say, I was highly entertained Completely ridiculous, but hilarious and highly amusing I was sad when it was over, and I m looking for another manga to read next.

    12. They say you shouldn t judge a book by it s cover But I did And I was right This series is amazing You get genderbender, fantasy, action, romance and slapstick humor along with intense serious moments, what can you want

    13. Sadly, I have finished this Ranma 1 2, will be added to my list of good mangas Really enjoyed It s quite a long story but still don t think it was enough Highly recommend it to ,manga readers and non manga readers.

    14. Every now and again I ve got to re read Ranma 1 2 Rumiko Takahashi is a great story teller This is one of the funniest manga I have ever read.

    15. What a ruse, giving us a cover that doesn t match the ending Either way, I am SO sad to part with the Ranma universe.

    16. Well these last two volumes felt like Inu Yasha then Ranma but I gotta say I m not as disappointed with the ending as I was when I first read it.

    17. Aww it s over I absolutely adore this series it s just so funny and so cute.I would recommend this series to everyone, it s a perfect mix of comedy, romance and action.

    18. This is a long and rambling series without a particularly coherent overall plot, but it s a lot of fun to read and no I won t give away the ending.
