    1. Really good book.Corrupt think tank New America, their fingers even in our foreign policy and elections Owns newspapers here and U.K controls what should be published Killings of innocent people, kidnappings and prisons in China Non stop action, 4.5 stars.

    2. 4.5 sAward winning journalist Jack Emery was in a bad place the hangover from his over indulgence the night before was wicked but it was becoming normal for him He couldn t bear it if his marriage to Erin ended in divorce And when Jack lost the contract he d dreamed would be his he was shattered But worse was to come attacks on Shanghai with thousands killed meant Jack was to be front line on a US war ship he would send the news from the China sea direct to the US public The Foundation was heade [...]

    3. When I get a request to read and review a book, as happened with this one, I have two concerns the first of which is whether or not it will be written well enough that it s not a waste of time Encountering errors in grammar, spelling and or punctuation is a major turn off IMHO, anyone who can t muster up pretty close to perfection in that department has zero right to call him or herself a writer. The second, of course, is content What s the story about In this case, it touches a topic close to ho [...]

    4. The so called fourth estate to the rescue Australian ex pat journo Jack Emery, deeply entrenched in a funk which may or may not have been his soon to be ex wife s fault, calls on previous Pulitzer winning form to save the world from a formidable right wing conspiracy set on starting WW3 I read this for light IPhone entertainment, a freebie from Apple to contrast with The Art of War And it hits the spot in this regard, balancing a few povs with a quick moving plot, although the ending was somewha [...]

    5. Very tense debut novel that keeps you turning pages read in under two days The characters are also the highlight, whilst many feel stock early on there is enough development to make them likeable even the wonderful villain The author isn t afraid to pull the plug on some likeable characters too, which will add to the tension in the next book though one death actually upset me Not easy to do in this genre Some of action feels rushed but the politics are gripping and there s plenty of room to move [...]

    6. I guess the author is hoping this becomes another Jack Reacher. The plot was interesting and kept my attention throughout I had a hard time liking the main character as he is a drunk who thinks women are objects As always, the man saves the day and stops the word from ending I ll give the character another shot before I call it quits.

    7. If you like political thrillers, this book is for you Secrets, lies, terrorism, murder and mayhem It s all there within the pages of a well thought out, almost perfectly executed book. With character development that will have you loving the villains as much as the hero, this story grabs you from the first page and never lets go The world building was outstanding I was completely wrapped up in Vincent s creation. The plot was daring to say the least Vincent never held back He killed off people I n [...]

    8. The first of the Jack Emery series, this was on my to read shelf for a long time I started this one coz I got approved for the 3rd book in the series by NetGalley and while trawling through my kindle I realized that I had the first two books in the series already, so it was a good place the start a new series. This one is a bit different from the military hero thrillers abundance that we have out there these days The hero is this is a journalist and he is aware of his own mortality and his shortf [...]

    9. As a first novel, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing and the author s ability to tell a cohesive tale without the many side trips new writers tend to get mired in The storyline was fairly tight and, except for a few small sentence structure continuity issues with the Kindle version, exciting enough that I read it straight through While there were some believablity issues with Dominique, Jack Emery came across as a worthy protagonist. Now, the downsides It was obvious by the [...]

    10. This is a well thought out political thriller that keeps you turning the page Following an array of characters on all sides of the moral fence, there s plenty of action and thrills to propel the story along, nicely balanced with moments of intrigue and character examination I think that s what I like best about this book the antagonists have their reasons for doing what they do, they aren t just bad guy cardboard cut outs And the lead Jack Emery isn t made out to be something he s not He s a rep [...]

    11. Political thrillers are not my normal reading genre, unless Game of Thrones counts as a political thriller, but I m glad I took the time with this one The Foundation is a tightly plotted book, particularly for a debut novel and moves along at a great pace I m looking forward to reading Jack s next adventure As an aside, Steve P Vincent probably kills off people than George R R Martin anyway.

    12. This was a free E Book I downloaded and it was enjoyable Good characters, interesting plotlines, action and suspense This was book 1 in the series and I will be interested in reading the others including a.5 prequel these seem all the rage at the moment It concerns a journalist who becomes embroiled in a political conspiracy to take control of the U.S.A good read for this who like political thrillers with a healthy dose of action.

    13. Steve P Vincent has gained a new reader After reading The Foundation, the first book in the Jack Emery series I m hooked After this action packed read I feel compelled to seek out and buy State of Emergency, book 2 in the series Vincent may be a author today but I will be seriously disappointed if I don t see his name on the New York Times Best Sellers List in the very near future.

    14. Jack Emery is a semi autobiographical masterpiece of a character and this novel will transfer well to the screen It s a shame Leonardo di caprio is perhaps slightly too old for the leading role Steven P Vincent is surely the Jeffrey Archer of our age His political commentary hits close to the bone So close, it s scary.

    15. UK There were lots of so called bad rumors about Ernest McDowell Jack s boss, EMCorp media billionaire owner chairman.Sandra Cheng Ernest s wife, EMCorp media Foundation s director, former lawyer has been hospitalized The Shanghai International Expo Centre will host the WTO conference. What news did Ernest have for Duncan McColl EMCorp media CFO board member Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology Law was on day 7 grilling Ernest Saul Alweiss EMCorp media Director of Legal Affairs.Se [...]

    16. The Foundation has an interesting premise A far right organization foments war between the United States and China for the purpose of stirring up the nationalistic instincts of the American public and thereby gaining control of the government. The book even starts out with a lot of promise The main character, a Pulitzer winning journalist, learns that his ex wife was killed in the act of terrorism that instigates the war His efforts to try to recover her body lead him to the adventure. But the boo [...]

    17. This is an enjoyable fast paced political thriller.Jack Emery is a journalist who seems to do intellegence work, than writing. He is getting divorced and is usually drunk. When a terrorist attack affects his life,he goes to major pains to find the culprits.Jeffery Kafer is a great narrator for this book I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    18. A terrifying, exceptional book Very well written I only found two errors and that is unusual The political intrigue, fanatical attitudes and criminal inclinations of Washington s elite is far too familiar and probably far too accurate This book is action packed and mind blowing The hero is terrific, brilliant and actually needs others to help, very refreshing I will definitively be reading from this author Thank you for a great story.

    19. DedicationI felt compelled to read this book because I could not find anything else that looked good I had my doubts about reading this book especially after reading the first chapter or two Then, all of the different segments started coming together Jack Emery was dedicated to the end with getting America back on the right track You will not regret reading this book Good editing and a great flow of the story

    20. In the wake of current government policies, politics, and inaction, I thought that the storyline was timely but a little underdeveloped The story moved at a breakneck pace not allowing me to connect with the main or secondary characters The ending was almost too predictable I am looking forward to reading 2 to determine if the author will allow me to care about Jack Emery or any of this circle.

    21. This was a great book Excitement, corruption and non stop action The story was a political takeover in congress that almost went bad I recommend this book to anyone who likes action with a little political drama.I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

    22. Edge of your seat storyThis story should open up the eyes of all people We need to pay attention to what is happening All the characters were great and a total page turner Great job Steve

    23. Star Journalist Jack is not doing great Possible divorce, the job he counted on gone What is he to do Then a group hires a Taiwanese terrorist and trouble begins Non stop Action all the way until the end Don t miss out.

    24. This is some storyline You have to be able to have some trust in your governmentbut Steve Vincent makes it sound so true Can you imagine starting a war on purposed blame a different country. This one kept me up all night

    25. Probably 4.5 stars This was better than I expected I read the prequel novella and was a little disappointed This one was good Recommended.

    26. Needed better editingGood story with interesting characters, however, errors in the text were distracting, but not terribly so Doubt that I will read any in the series.

    27. Good writing and page turner plot Too much psychopathic violence for me I wish I could have determined that in the description and reviews.

    28. Stupid Way too many moments where you have to say Ummokaaaay to yourself as you read it Less believable than a lot of the genre fiction I read I did not enjoy.
