    1. It has been a long time since I ve written a review, so I will write one.So basically, I read this book being a fan of all Darren Shan books, and this book did not fail to impress me This book is a vampire book Yes, a VAMPIRE book I am sick of vampire books myself, but Darren Shan s books are different,no matter how the book may sound cliched Especially when it comes to the terms Vampires, werewolves, angels. So this book is amazing It has great characters It is written in third person point of v [...]

    2. Well that was bloody intense pun intended thankyou Larten is at the lowest point of his young vampire life in this, the second of the four book series in the Larten crepsley adventures Without any friends, guidance or even a clear head, our favourite orange haired vampire is travelling the world without a sense of direction or purpose In by far the darkest book of the series, and once of the darkest in Shans vampire books, we get a look into some of the foolhardy mistakes Larten made which helpe [...]

    3. Unlike other books I ve read by Shan, Ocean of Blood was pretty much an endless sea of summary with the occasional pool of blood thrown in Click here to read the rest of my review.

    4. Larten and Wester decide to go out on their own to sample the hard drinking playboy lifestyles of Cubs until they are ready to settle back down to the Vampire life When it is time to test themselves at Vampire Mountain and find their calling, Larten has a crisis of confidence and decides to strike out on his own.Book 2 starts with the look at the Cub lifestyle of drinking, gambling and whoring, which I really had no interest in reading about Had the whole book been about this kind of vampire lif [...]

    5. I ve been an almost life long fan of Darren Shan s books The first time I read The Vampire s Assistant I was around eight After that first encounter with the wonderful world of vampires that would live for centuries but were like warriors than the aristocrats most books make them out to be, I was smitten with his writing. But it seems like Ocean of Blood was a bit of a miss for me Usually when I write a review the second paragraph is filled with the basic plot premises This time, I m having trou [...]

    6. Personally I think fans of the Cirque Du Freak need to grow up a slightly Writers change style, and here I think it s much improved I read this book in two days after getting, and then read it again straight after This series is a lot mature than the Cirque Du Freak which is good, as I read them when I was around 10 So I m very glad the books have matured along with myself I loved this book from start the finish The gambling, the war packs, the return to vampire mountain, the ENDING had sad it [...]

    7. The novel Ocean of Blood written by Darren Shan, was one of the most gruesome yet beautiful written novel with every scene detailed to the brim Even though I read this one before the first novel of the series I still got a kick out of reading about Larten Crepsley s story The novel had all of the traits that make it a good book in my eyes gore, joy, horror, sadness, humor, and irony I also liked how each part of the book had a quote like something somewhere, and or someone that is not a quote fr [...]

    8. I have to say, I m glad that this series did NOT come out before the Cirque Du Freak because I probably wouldn t have read that one as ravenously as I did I think I m officially done with Darren Shan I ve read everything he s put out and the Cirque Du Freak was the only thing I really took to.The Saga of Larten Crepsley is drawn out with large gaps in time where you don t know what happened it s as if someone childishly kept a diary only when they were depressed or something.Darren Shan I commen [...]

    9. Ocean of Blood my Darren Shan was in my personal opinion the best that he has wrote in a long time I read all the Cirque Du Freak books and fell in love with the aaction and the way he showed vampires The concept of vampires being fanged and live forever doesnt make any sense and neither does the feeding method of older vampire tales For the most part it was easy to get into especially if you read the first of this continuation of the best author of all timeDarren Shan

    10. Je skv l potkat star zn m z p vodn s gy v o trochu mlad m proveden a zasm t se Druh d l byl stejn dobr jako jedni ka Zvl t konec Shan op t nezklamal Nav c je tu hodn Vand y a jeho hl ek, tak e nev hejte

    11. The sea will run redAnd the story of young Larten Crepsley continues With Birth of a Killer, this book s predecessor, there s the distinct, childlike origins that doesn t disappoint with Ocean of Blood we move from the protagonist s formative years into his young adult teenage years This entry focuses heavily on the main character s future, the finding of his path There s also a host of characters, both old and new if you re coming from this series parent, The Saga of Darren Shan, then there are [...]

    12. Book 2 of the Saga was just as good as book 1, and I thoroughly enjoyed it I loved that we are not only seeing the past of Larten Crepsley, but also the pasts of other characters I grew to love in the original Saga the Saga of Darren Shan as they come into and or leave Larten s life Larten s life isn t straightforward This chapter of it is filled with doubts and indecision, which I found particularly relatable It s not a simple A to B story, it has lots of twists and turns Another thing I liked [...]

    13. I didn t like this one as much I as I liked the first one I didn t like how aimless Crepsley was Most of the book was him aimlessly going from place to place not knowing what he wanted from life, making bad decisions the entire time I liked that I got to seeing how he met Lady Evanna and I really liked Malora view spoiler it horrible that she had to die that way hide spoiler Also, Arra Sails was introduced in this book but she wasn t in it long, I would have liked to learn about her I definitel [...]

    14. 4.5 Stars I enjoyed this one than Birth of a Killer and it was a very quick read for me There was involvement from characters we met in the Saga of Darren Shan The book covered a large amount of time but that was good because I felt it prevented it from dragging in some places I m certainly intrigued to see where Larten s story goes from here as that was one heck if a cliffhanger ending, which I ve come to expect from Darren over the years.

    15. I almost gave this 4 stars instead of 5 but went with 5 because even though I had issues with it, when it was good, it was really good The only thing I didn t like was the time skipping, the same problem I had with the first book I really wanted to see Larten and Wester s trails I loved Larten s travels though and the people he met and sadly, lost along the way.

    16. It s been a few years since I read this series, but I do remember being so excited when they came out with a series just about Larten Crepsley He s my favorite character ever It s amazing The series is so amazing And heartbreaking And this is my favorite out of all 4 It s just The boat man I cry the whole time I m reading it I just want to hold Larten and tell him it s okay.

    17. This was a great book in my opinion, much better than the first on the series, Birth of a Killer, mostly because it feels complete as a book, it had a feeling that stuff actually happened, a climax, the other one had too much of a felling of being half a book and I think you should read them back to back, though I didn t The need of being of such a short length hurt Birth of a Killer but because the introductions and setting up of the characters was mostly done, Ocean of Blood could hit the gro [...]

    18. One thing I love about books that I m always doubtful about when it comes to movies the sequels get better as they progress I have to say I loved Oceans of Blood much better than the first book. When Birth of a Killer first came out several years ago my brother and I were really excited to read it, because The Saga of Darren Shan had become our favorite book series I ll admit even then, though, I felt like I wouldn t be so hyped up about the book once I d read it, because although Mr Crepsley had [...]

    19. This book was a little better for me I felt that is was a little slow until around the ending, but it was still a really great book A lot of the characters we met in The Cirque Du Freak reappear in this book, and we come to know how Larten met them Larten and Wester are eager to sate their human urges so they travel with the cubs for about 20 years Tanish has taught them how to live it up as young newly blooded vamps They travel the world gambling, drinking, and wenching They also make their way [...]

    20. Cirque Du Freak is an amazing series loved by many, but we don t know Larten Crepsley s history, and the second book in Darren Shan s prequel The Ocean of Blood intends to change that Picking up with Lartens years with the war packs, it manages to push your ideas of what happened immensely further The Ocean of Blood is an amazing novel, because it creates vivid details allowing you to generate a perfect picture in your mind, makes a cliffhanging story making you want to continuously flip the pag [...]

    22. m not sure how to start this review I finished the book last night and was fighting the urge to pick the next one up and read straight away, but had planned to watch a film with the other half so didn t I still haven t as I wanted to write this review first, only problem is I don t know where to start I ve been a fan of Darren Shan for about 8 to 10 years now, I ve read just about everything he s written, with the exception of a few books, and he still never ceases to amaze me.Warning May contai [...]

    23. You may know Crepsley from the Saga of Darren Shan review coming one day This is the point the entire series is his backstory However you don t need to have read the Saga of Darren Shan to understand this, but it would be good if you do.We open with Larten Crepsley, the red headed vampire and the hero of the book, showing off at a pub He then goes to a battlefield with some other vampires, and one of the vampires gets killed in a fight Skip a few years He goes to meet Evanna, the Lady of the Wil [...]
